Advancing Digital Accessibility Through Collaboration

As part of our ongoing work on digital accessibility and inclusive education, we had the pleasure of engaging in a meaningful conversation with Lana Kristine Jelenjev, co-founder of the Neurodiversity Foundation and the Neurodiversity Education Academy.

Lana brings extensive experience in global advocacy and a strong commitment to advancing neuro-inclusive practices across education, organisations, and communities. Her insights offered valuable perspectives on how inclusivity can be embedded more effectively within higher education systems.

Our discussion explored several important areas of collaboration, including the co-design of inclusive research tools such as surveys and interview protocols, as well as approaches to embedding neurodiversity principles within different cultural and educational contexts. We also reflected on the role of awareness-building initiatives, including workshops that support both staff and students in developing more inclusive practices.

A key theme throughout the conversation was the importance of storytelling and practical toolkits in supporting sustainable approaches to digital accessibility. These elements play a crucial role in making inclusion not only a strategic priority but also a lived and shared experience across institutions.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Lana as part of our international project on inclusive education and accessibility in higher education. Contributions like these continue to shape the direction of our work and strengthen our commitment to creating more accessible and inclusive learning environments.
